White Water Walk

White Water Walk

White Water WalkHeading down river from Niagara Falls on the Canadian side visitors can get almost uncomfortably close to the great white water that rages through the Niagara Gorge. The experience is called the White Water Walk and to get there you take an elevator 230 feet down into the gorge, then walk through the 240 foot tunnel.

White Water WalkThe Boardwalk that has been constructed runs along side the rapids for 1,000 feet with two observation areas along the Niagara River. The rushing water has been classified as a Class 6 rapids and is among the wildest on the entire globe.

This stretch of white water was used for a “rescue” scene in Superman 2 where Clark Kent jumps in the rapids to save Lois Lane. Obviously stunt doubles were used with safety harnesses and in the “calm” sections of the shoreline.
